Dear CEIN/BS students,
As per your Dosage Calculation Policy, you will have a dosage calculation test in the beginning of your fall semester. As requested by students, we have moved this off of the first day of the community health class. The faculty want students to have as much opportunity to administer medications with the start of clinical rotations, so the dosage calculation test will be administered to all students on Thursday, September 3rd at 8:30am. This will enable students to start administering medications as soon as possible. If any retakes are needed, they will be done the first week of the med/surg course. Given that the med/surg course runs over 10 weeks instead of 14, we want to maximize your opportunity to administer medications.
Again, the dosage calculation test will be administered to all students on Thursday, September 3rd at 8:30am via ExamSoft with monitoring. Remember that you have been encouraged to keep current with reviewing your dosage calculations regularly throughout each semester and have been tested weekly on this information. There is no new dosage calculation content to learn for this dosage calculation test for the fall semester. Please note that you should be reviewing all previous dosage calculation materials for this test. Please review Dosage Calculations on your "CEIN/BS Information" site on HuskyCT - under "Dosage Calculations".
You also have the opportunity to complete practice questions. On your HuskyCT site, there are CEIN/BS Summer semester dosage calculation practice questions - versions 1, 2, and 3 were open for the summer. We have just opened up a version 4 to also assist you in preparing for the fall dosage calculation test. In addition, there is a practice assessment for dosage calculation on ATI that needs to be completed (titled "NURS 4554 Dosage Calc Practice"). We would suggest that you complete this after reviewing all other materials.
We will also have three different times for a dosage calculation review for you the week of August 31st. The first one will be on Monday, August 31st from 3pm to 4pm (and we can stay later for those who want/need more time). It is expected that you review and complete all practice questions before attending this review. We will go over any questions that you have during this time. Here is the link for the review on Monday, August 31st at 3pm: https://uconn-cmr.webex.com/meet/rjm11003<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fuconn-cmr.webex.com%2Fmeet%2Frjm11003&data=02%7C01%7C%7C414b096671c343eaf70008d83ad7ddf1%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637324046091915909&sdata=TQfJZ2%2Bav%2B72G%2FlrGnpA2pe3IyhzxkBEWlMASQ2JGT4%3D&reserved=0> We will send out the time and link for a review on Tuesday also and another review time TBD.
