October 6th also marks the birthday of Fannie Lou Haner, who was a civil rights activist and one of the first Black Americans to register to vote in Mississippi.
The Mid-Autumn Festival (also known as Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival) celebrated by many East and Southeast Asian people, dating back 3,000 years when China's emperors worshipped the moon for harvest. It is the second most important holiday after the Chinese New Year.
