As expected, I have forgotten other celebrations that recognize our diverse community.
Judy Brown has brought to our attention the Native American or Indigenous People's Day that is celebrated in approximately 15 states in place or in addition to Columbus Day.
The Native American Cultural Center on the Uconn Campus celebrates Indigenous Peoples Week: https://nacp.uconn.edu/indigenous-peoples-week-2/<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnacp.uconn.edu%2Findigenous-peoples-week-2%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cd9c6c5e22fb24710941d08d86a09600b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637375935775199655&sdata=CS9WBw9XJ5%2Fss1zd%2BB8C7%2BAcbZGgDIXHhVHbjxM8QgA%3D&reserved=0>
Beginning at sundown on Saturday, October 10, and ending at sundown on Sunday, October 11 our Jewish community celebrates Simchat Torah, the completion of the annual reading of the Torah.
Thank you Sharon Casavant for sharing.
I will attempt to be as inclusive each month to the many diverse celebrations. Please consider sending me an event or a person who is celebrated at the beginning of the month to share.
