Please see below for an internship opportunity through the Remembering World War One: Sharing History/Preserving Memories project:
The Connecticut State Library is currently seeking applications for an internship for the Spring 2015 semester to work on the Remembering World War One: Sharing History/Preserving Memories project. This is a two-year project that will focus on building a community generated history of World War One through a series of public events utilizing digitization, digital preservation and other digital tools.
The successful candidate will work with project staff in developing and maintaining the online presence of the project. This will include daily postings to a number of social media platforms as well as weekly blog posts. The intern will also assist with the planning of public outreach events and publicity for those events. This may include creating promotional materials, working with local media outlets and coordinating with local historical societies, public libraries and other event venues.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong social media presence and writing skills. Must be detail oriented, organized, and be able to work with and meet deadlines. This internship will give the successful candidate an opportunity to build a strong portfolio as well as create professional connections across the cultural heritage spectrum.
The project intern should be working to complete an undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the following fields: marketing, journalism, or communications. History, American studies, anthropology, or equivalent students may also be considered if they can demonstrate a strong social media presence and good writing skills. Preference will be given to students who meet the above criteria and also have coursework and/or demonstrated interest in World War One history.
The Remembering World War One: Sharing History/Preserving Memories Internship is an unpaid internship. The internship dates are flexible but will begin sometime in January 2015 and will be designed to meet the students' institutional requirements. Deadline for application is December 15, 2014.
Interested applicants should send a letter of interest, resume (which should include social media profiles) and at least one example of persuasive writing via email to:
