College Lifestyles™ is an online magazine that reaches students across the U.S. and abroad. We focus on healthy lifestyles, student leaders, budget fashion, Greek life and professional life. College Lifestyles™ was founded in 2008 by Shelly Marie Redmond, a registered dietitian, founder of Skinny Louisiana, author of “Eat Well and Be Fabulous” and an alumna of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority.
For the summer 2015 semester, CL is looking for writers, social media gurus and PR pros.
While this is an unpaid internship, it is an experience unlike any other. We are not a “make copies and get coffee” internship. We are an internship for students who want to gain experience outside of the classroom. We are also virtual – no relocation required.

See what our alumnae and current interns have to say about their experiences with the CL internship:
“This was my first internship and [it] created the building blocks for the rest of my internships during college… I learned a lot of social media skills, such as how to write a tweet, how often to tweet, etc., which is something that my classes didn’t often cover as it wasn’t in the textbooks. Additionally, I gained real experience which put me ahead for when we did mock projects in class, as I had already gained experience promoting on social media or planning a campaign…” - Christina Hedges
“I have been responsible for the Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Google+ channels at various points. I find that I am more comfortable with social media compared to other classmates, and have a better sense of which social media channels are most effective for different projects. I have been able to accomplish a lot with CL, so it's a really big asset on my resume… when I am [in] a journalism class and they assign an assignment that pertains to either field, I am a lot more comfortable than some of my other classmates…I think that my journalism program is great, but I think they are still figuring out how to incorporate social media in the curriculum. I had some assignments dealing with social media, but I would never [have] had learned the skills I learned at CL in the classroom.” - Arielle Hines
“In PR (my minor) and fashion (my major) social media is huge and growing. Seeing how social media aids companies today definitely helps me in class. I can use real life examples that I have seen and worked with—instead of speaking in generalities. Being at CL has given me experience. Instead of saying, ‘I learned how to publish fashion articles following AP style guidelines,’ I can say, ‘I published 60 articles following the AP style guidelines.’ I don’t have to say I learned. I can say I did.” - Jacqie Brooks
“I do a lot in the health section at CL, so not only am I able to apply what I’ve learned in my dietetics courses, but I’ve also learned so much more about topics in nutrition just by researching and writing about them, and fact-checking others’ articles on those subjects…I’m not a journalism student, nor am I marketing or PR, so for me, most of what I’ve learned at CL, I didn’t learn much about in any of my classes. I came into CL as a writer. Now I am a writer, a leader, a photographer, a social media guru, a PR pro (sort of) and I know how to work as part of a team. CL has taught me more than I ever thought a virtual internship could.” - Meg Dowell
