Deep End Diversion Project Coordinator 

The Center for Children’s Advocacy (CCA), a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting for the legal rights of Connecticut’s most vulnerable children, seeks a part-time (12-20 hours/week) Project Coordinator to coordinate CCA’s Deep End Diversion Project. 

The Deep End Diversion Project will create a unique diversion mechanism, based on restorative justice principles, to be implemented inside Connecticut’s juvenile justice congregate care facilities to reduce arrests of youth living in facilities.  

Funded by a national grant, the Project is designed to address the nationwide lack of strategies for addressing the problem of arrests of youth inside congregate care facilities.  CCA expects that the diversion mechanism designed by the Project will provide a model for facilities across the country.  The diversion mechanism will be designed by an unusual and diverse group of Connecticut stakeholders, with representation from youth, residential treatment providers, restorative justice experts, CT Department of Children and Families (DCF), the juvenile justice system, child law attorneys and law enforcement.  

Responsibilities: 
1.	Coordinate Deep End Diversion Project 
a)	Schedule and facilitate meetings of the stakeholder planning group. Develop and update the project work plan and follow up with project partners to support partner activities between meetings. Acquire data, policies and other documents as requested by stakeholder group. 
b)	Work with the Connecticut Juvenile Training School (CJTS), Waterford Country School and community partners to coordinate and support youth participation in the stakeholder planning group. Manage youth stipend payments.
c)	Coordinate development of training curriculum for staff and law enforcement, in collaboration with community partners and identified restorative justice and diversion experts.
d)	Coordinate implementation of training for staff and law enforcement, in collaboration with the DCF Training Academy, CJTS’s trainer, Waterford Country school administration and community partners.
e)	Develop a manual detailing new diversion mechanism. 
f)	Coordinate and troubleshoot the implementation of the deep end diversion model at CJTS and Waterford Country School, in collaboration with CJTS, Waterford Country School and the stakeholder group.
g)	Coordinate implementation of evaluation plan and produce report in collaboration with partners.
h)	Coordinate production and dissemination of an information brief.

2.	Provide information to CCA Finance and Development staff as necessary for grant reports.

3.	Work with CCA Communications Director and DCF to secure necessary permissions for publicity and publicize project.

Qualifications: 
•	Master’s Degree preferred 
•	Experience working with youth, preferably with youth of color and/or juvenile justice-involved youth
•	Excellent organizational skills 
•	Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to engage with youth
•	Knowledge of the juvenile justice system and restorative justice issues 
•	Initiative, cultural competence and commitment to juvenile justice reform 

Compensation:	
Salary is commensurate with experience.
