The Fortieth Midwest Probability Colloquium (MPC40) will be held
at Northwestern University on October 18-20, 2018. This year’s
Midwest Probability Colloquium will feature the following speakers:

Tutorial lectures on Thursday, October 18th:

Sebastien Roch (University of Wisconsin, Madison) (Two lectures)

Research lectures on Friday and Saturday, October 13-14th:

Rick Kenyon (Brown University) (Two lectures)
Paul Bourdage (New York University)
Firas Rassoul-Agha (University of Utah)
Tianyi Zheng (University of California, San Diego)

This year's MPC is organized by the Scientific Committee:

Antonio Auffinger (Northwestern University)
Xin Guo (University of California, Berkeley)
Elton Hsu (Northwestern University)
Greg Lawler (University of Chicago)
Tai Melcher (University of Virginia)
Timo Seppalanien (University of Wisconsin, Madison)
Jing Wang (Purdue University)
Qiang Zeng (Northwestern University)


The Thursday lectures will be held at 2:45 - 5:10pm in Lunt Hall
(Mathematics Department), Room 105. The Friday lectures will be held
at 3:00 - 5:30pm and the Saturday lectures will be held at 9:00 -
11:30am and 1:30 - 2:30pm, both in Swift Hall, Room 107, which is
directly across the open space towards LakeMichigan from Lunt Hall
(Mathematics Department).

Women in Probability will be hosting a lunch at the Midwest
Probability Colloquium on Friday, October 19 at 11am at a local
restaurant to be decided later. We will be able to offset costs for
women graduate student and postdoc dinner attendees. Anyone
interested in participating in the dinner should please email Tai
Melcher ([log in to unmask]).

The conference reception is on Friday evening at 6:00 - 8:00pm and
is open to all participants.


We recommend the following six local hotels for local accommodation:

THE DEMAND FOR LOCAL ACCOMMODATION IS VERY HIGH IN GENERAL DURING
THE TIME OF THE CONFERENCE. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE THE PARTICIPANTS
TO BOOK THEIR ROOMS AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.

We are in the process of applying a grant from the NSF to provide
graduate students (PhD after June 30, 2012) and young investigators
with financial assistance for attending the conference. If you plan
to request financial assistance, you must register online before
SEPTEMBER 10, 2018 in order to be eligible for full consideration.
The necessary paperwork (receipts and the completed Visitor's
Expense Report (available for download at the conference website))
must be received by the Mathematics Department within 30 days after
the close of the conference. Other things being equal, the funds
will be distributed according to chronological priority.
