Next year from June 9-15 there will be an AMS Mathematical Research Community (MRC) workshop on Stochastic Spatial Models. This meeting is organized by Shankar Bhamidi, Gerandy Brito, Michael Damron, Rick Durrett, and Matt Junge. The topics are particle systems on lattices and graphs, first passage percolation, and related problems in random media.
This is not a conference. Most of the time is devoted to working in groups on problems. Readings are provided to give background and state the problems. The goal is to foster continued collaborations, which are nurtured by a follow up session at the 2020 joint meetings, and travel money for small groups to work on specific problems
There is room for up to 40 participants within -2 to 5 years of receiving their Ph.D. All accepted participants get their expenses paid (travel, lodging, and meals). This year the MRC is at the Whispering Pines Conference Center in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Applications are due by February 15, 2019.
