The successful candidate will possess a strong competency in research methods, including GIS, spatial statistics, modeling, field data collection and cartographic visualization techniques. A background in remote sensing is preferred but not required. The candidate will be expected to teach the equivalent of six courses per academic year, to include introductory and advanced GIS, a required core course in Sustainability Analytics, Metrics, and Decision Tools, and electives in their area of expertise. In addition, they will participate in departmental and university service and may serve as thesis advisor to master’s level graduate students.

Qualifications. A Ph.D. in GIS/geography, urban/regional planning, or environmental science are preferred, but doctoral degrees in related disciplines, such as biology, civil and environmental engineering, economics, sociology, and political science, will also be considered. A strong record of teaching excellence in GIS is required. In addition, connections with professional public policy and planning practice would be highly valued.
