Subject: State Museums -Seasonal Hires

We’re Hiring!
The State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is seeking museum guides to be stationed at one of these three museums, operated by the DECD: Eric Sloane Museum (Kent), Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine (East Granby), and the Prudence Crandall Museum (Canterbury). The museum guides will report to the staff person in charge of the site. This is a 37.5 hour/week position and requires weekend work. Individual work schedules will be determined by the site supervisor, however the work week will begin on Wednesday or Thursday and run through Sunday or Monday. Some holiday work will be required. The summer season begins on May 1 and ends on November 1, 2019.
Seasonal workers should have knowledge of American history as demonstrated by college level classes or work experience. Applicants should have strong oral communication skills as demonstrated by prior work in a job that requires interaction with the public or in a leadership position, such as a business, nonprofit or fraternal or community organization.
