Rum, but surely also brandy, cider (the alcoholic kind obviously!), beer? If you look in the catalog for the Ct Historical Society library you'll find some account books from some CT taverns of approximately the same time. There'll be purchases of rum and whatever else. I don't imagine there are huge differences between what was served at one or another location, or in the 1770s versus 1780s/90s and beyond, tho that could be looked into (tariffs? Changes in taste? Histories of taverns might tell you.) Here are a few possibilities: https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F28484&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=2nUSPc8CCkCcREi9PKVVaYDJgR0wfsR5B7HyTXjyCF0%3D&reserved=0 https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F28485&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=iJmE%2Fm%2BccUr6CHyk9%2FiD8LuGEtUhE%2B4p8BKRYtd0CGI%3D&reserved=0 https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F34968&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=lsvFdWYyttZ6V7wqvzao17Av%2BAzRKdur5yrwdRNNcqE%3D&reserved=0 (undated, but looking up his life dates would say whether this is likely to be useful; and possibly there are clues in the handwriting and entries and whatnot) https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F26642&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=Ki1%2BXUDzT4m4eNyTz4BplMrW%2BvSiJ5eLEgHJjl6hjoE%3D&reserved=0 Someone did a lot of research on CT taverns in the 1930s apparently, here are her notes: https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F32667&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=LjdKGWdaq943WjULsXLFauvVeWLf7JGI4AURWrABvZA%3D&reserved=0 https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F30453&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=2P6IZAZPvJAmjnKiqDszCe0ldhq0eDOG1JEuaP4c2J0%3D&reserved=0 https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F35280&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=6BkjFiMrI3m70SzbgchLQZdPY0EpUdG7v6B%2FyeSfDB4%3D&reserved=0 https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F29433&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=ZNf4NLY18HLKgeNucEotlhmQbvMsxP7GtdiNJH91ZK0%3D&reserved=0 https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fchs.waldo.kohalibrary.com%2Fapp%2Fwork%2F28936&data=02%7C01%7CCTHISTORY-L%40LISTSERV.UCONN.EDU%7Ce40c32ce88a949f20bec08d73156102b%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637032118017908921&sdata=YMyVzmNkEv2bOOrKyjxIZAdI7nUfWJfsM4DktgFOaWA%3D&reserved=0 that's just scrolling through the first 55 entries of result of basic search "taverns" which includes secondary sources that might help too.
