This is being sent to all New Haven and 4-H Fair Distribution Lists – as you probably are aware, we are being faced with a significant challenge with the coronavirus . Understanding that things are changing hourly, we wanted to share the most recent information based on both UConn and state of CT planning.

4-H Dairy and Beef Day CANCELLED on Saturday as well as Expressive Arts Day for March 21 – see the emails from the State 4-H Office below.

For now, all activities involving more than 100 participants are cancelled through April 4. At the same time, Gov. Lamont has recommended that all state employees telecommute and state offices be closed. This is being decided on a case by case basis. We hope that you will be safe and continue to work on your 4-H projects. We will be available by email and phone and will try to keep you up to date with activities planned in the future. As Bonnie Burr states in her email: Thanks again for your patience as we navigate this first pandemic in 100 years https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus . Wash your hands, stay away from crowded locations, wash your hands some more and stay safe!

Peggy & Emily

From Nancy Wilhelm:
This is to notify all 4-H Expressive Arts Day participants that the event scheduled for March 21st at the Eversource facility in Berlin has been cancelled. Please note that the local fashion revue evaluations are still scheduled to happen. Ribbons and evaluations for the local judging will then be mailed out to participants. The photography judging has already happened, and we will get ribbons and score sheets out to those participants. We encourage everyone to enter your art, photography and textile arts projects into your local 4-H fairs. There are no plans at this time to reschedule the event. Please contact me directly to request a refund. Stay safe and wash your hands.

Subject: 4-H Dairy and Beef Day CANCELLED on Saturday

Please share with all your dairy and beef 4-Her and volunteers! Nancy Wilhelm is sending an email out and getting it on Facebook, but we will need to get it out far and wide.

Per directions from the UConn administration all events with 100 or more people attending must be cancelled at this time. We were expecting 300 people so regret we need to postpone this exciting day.

We have rescheduled it for May 16 at the same time and same place. We will be revising the schedule to accommodate speakers who can’t join us. Your $5 registration already fee paid for a t-shirt and for those who registered and paid on time, your t-shirt will be available May 16 if you attend that day. We will be sending t-shirts for those who cannot attend May 16 to your county offices and you can pick them up there after May 20.

If you registered late and did not get a t-shirt, Nancy Wilhelm nancy.wilhelm@uconn,edu our State 4-H Program Coordinator will refund your money if you do not think you can attend May 16.

Thanks again for your patience as we navigate this first pandemic in 100 years https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus . Wash your hands, stay away from crowded locations, wash your hands some more and stay safe!
