Dear Students,

I hope that each of you is doing well as we all continue to navigate this pandemic and wait patiently as restrictions cautiously lift. As you near completion of week three of your first two summer courses, planning has been occurring for your transition to the pediatric and maternity courses. Your course faculty have been meeting regularly to plan these courses.  Susan Virkler, our CEIN clinical coordinator, has been busy preparing the clinical schedules for these rotations.

Unfortunately, we will not have access to several clinical agencies this summer, so Susan is working to create a schedule that offers clinical opportunities to as many of you as possible within the agencies that are accepting students. Once Susan emails the clinical schedule, you will have a few days to swap sites among yourselves if you find another student to switch with you. After the swapping period ends, you'll receive additional instructions. We appreciate everyone's patience and flexibility through this process.

Dean Chyun informed us on Monday that the contact tracing opportunity is presently on hold as we wait for the CT Department of Health to communicate their plan. Associate Dean, Dr. Starkweather, and I spoke with the School of Dental Medicine last week about clinical opportunities, and we anticipate they will contact us again in June with a plan for our nursing students to assist with various screenings in their dental clinics. We will keep you updated as we learn more about this opportunity.
