This is being sent to the 4-H Fair, New Haven & Middlesex 4-H Distribution Lists – Here is the information about the activities we have panned to celebrate our 4-H Fair. We hope you will be able to participate and enjoy the work our officers and volunteers have worked on for the past few months. We miss everyone and look forward to meeting with you in person soon but for now, this celebration will keep us going. Middlesex and New Haven County 2020 It's Not Fair Week Celebration!
Although we cannot be physically together at this time, we still wish to celebrate our love for 4-H and admiration for our members via Instagram and Facebook. We have planned three contests for the duration of the week plus, daily activities and videos for our members to watch and participate in at home. Although we cannot have a fair, we hope that this brings our members together and reminds them of all the fun they had at past fairs. We are all looking forward to seeing you participate in our Fair Celebration week! Opening Ceremonies are from 4-6pm on Wednesday, August 5th.
For those members without social media, below are the specific instructions so that you too may participate in the celebration: Please ask your parents or guardian before sending us your images, by sending us your images you are giving us consent to use them on our Instagram and Facebook page. *We ask that members without social media send their images to Erin ([log in to unmask]) and Erika ([log in to unmask]) 24 hours before the scheduled posting time. Posting times can be found on the calendar on the last page of this document or in the posting instructions below.
There will be 4-H Fun Videos launched every day provided by our caring and knowledgeable 4-H Volunteers. After the initial broadcast, they will be available all week on the 4-H Fair’s Playlist on UConn Extension’s YouTube. Check them out when you can! They are really good! Contest Information: (Runs from Wednesday, August 5th - Sunday, August 9th)
Scavenger Hunt Contest (information sent out in previous email) - Get outside and experience trails and natural areas near you! Participate in the Nature Scavenger Hunt at a State Park, Trail, or even in your backyard or neighborhood, and have the opportunity to win some awesome prizes! Instructions and materials are included in this packet. All submissions must be sent to Erin ([log in to unmask]) and Erika ([log in to unmask]) by noon on Sunday, August 9th in order to be considered for the contest.
Tie-dyed T-shirt Contest – Tie dye a T-shirt and take a photo of you in it (or who you made it for). You can watch our special ‘How To’ video on Wednesday evening for helpful hints. Any T-shirt will do! Once you have completed the T-Shirt and taken a photo please post it. Poster Project about 4-H Contest – Make a general promotional poster for 4-H or an educational display board about something you have learned in 4-H. Trivia Night- Join our host Marc Cournoyer for a fun filled and fast paced 4-H trivia session! We have different sessions by age group. You need to register in advance for trivia night by emailing Marc at [log in to unmask] and cc’ing Peggy and Emily. You’ll need a quizizz account. Home Arts Display (1:00 pm - 4:00 pm) - Show off your creative side! Post photos of your favorite creative works, which can be anything that you would enter in the Home Arts Department on a normal fair year. You can also participate in two Creative Arts Activities:

● Trash to Treasures - Upcycling is one of the hottest new trends. People love items with history or character. Find items around your house that you can repurpose or update into something new and different.

Materials needed: apple, banana, toothpicks, Twizzlers, pretzel rods, string cheese, butter/carving knife, OR whatever food strikes your inspiration!
