The University of Connecticut's Department of
Geography<http://geography.uconn.edu/>is proud to announce a new
*Online
Graduate Certificate in GIS <http://onlinegis.uconn.edu/>*. This 12-credit
graduate-level certificate program is designed for Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) professionals seeking additional expertise and knowledge and
graduate students who want to learn about this exciting field.


The GIS Certificate Program consists of four 3-credit graduate level
courses that focus on Geographic Information Systems and the science behind
their development and use. This program offers a unique fusion of
fundamental geospatial analysis techniques and more advanced methods, and
provides the flexibility and convenience of online learning without
sacrificing UConn's high educational standards.


 Required core courses include:

   - Fundamentals of GIS
   - Application Issues in GIS

Two of the following electives are required:


   - Location Analysis
   - GIS in Transportation
   - GIS Modeling of the Urban Environment


UConn's online Graduate Certificate in GIS can be completed in only one
year by taking two courses in the fall and two courses in the spring.



Applicants must have a B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited institution
to enroll in the program.
