TRINITY COLLEGE



The Environmental Science Program at Trinity College invites applications for a visiting instructor in geographical information systems (GIS) for the fall term of 2014. The successful candidate will teach an introductory lecture course in GIS and has a strong interest to teach in the liberal arts environment. The candidate should have experience in teaching and applying GIS to a variety of fields. At the time of appointment, the candidate should have a master's degree in a relevant field. Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level is highly desirable.

            The course is taught twice a week (Tues, Thurs, 9:25-10:40 AM) in a computer lab where all work stations are running ArcGIS 10.1.  Any text for the course is at the instructor's discretion but historically students have worked through the ESRI Press Workbook: Tutorial 1.  Class size averages approximately 15 students.  Students from multiple disciplines take the GIS course including: Environmental Science, Urban Studies and Economics.

            Trinity College's Environmental Science program is an interdisciplinary program that enjoys support from faculty in biology, chemistry and physics.
