We have just recently put a download site on our new Webpage. You can download the same data in shapefile and File GDB format. http://www.cambridgema.gov/GIS/gisdata.aspx Still working on a download site for larger files (over 10mb) on both sites.

We also released an open data site yesterday. There are some shapefiles on that as well as well as some tabular data. https://data.cambridgema.gov/

The City of Cambridge has made many of their datasets available as GeoJSONs via GitHub. That might not be a format that works well for your users if they need shapefiles, but it would be lightweight and wouldn't require additional local IT infrastructure.

I can't help but put in my 2 cents as an employee at a state GIS data warehouse/access point. Why not work with MassGIS? I know that here in VT, VCGI tries to provide one-stop "shopping" (which is to say, free download) in order to reduce the amount of searching about users have to do to find data.

My apologies if I am simply ignorant about MassGIS' policy regarding data from municipalities...

I am surveying the options for providing our GIS data as a free download from our city website.  If your municipality offers this service, would you send me the link so I can review?  And if you want to add comments about how it is working for you, that would be appreciated.

Thanks.
