JOB POSTING

Position: Landscape-Scale GIS Manager

The Merrimack River is the most threatened in the country for loss of private forested lands, threatening the river's water quality and wildlife. This river is the only major New England river used as a direct source of drinking water. Currently, nearly 600,000 people depend on this river for drinking water.

The Merrimack River Watershed Council (MRWC) has recently been awarded a $300,000 USFS grant, "Expanding Riparian Buffers in Threatened Urban and Suburban Watersheds: A Precision Stormwater Approach." The grant will restore and proted riparian buffers along the Merrimack River and its tributaries to improve the river's water quality. The grant is under the Landscape Scale Restoration Program of the U.S. Forest Service, Department of Agriculture. The work is in partnership with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New Hampshire's Forestry Departments, the Nashua River Watershed Association, and UNH Cooperative Extension.

MRWC is seeking a landscape-scale GIS manager and planner for one year to work on this grant. Location is in Lawrence, MA.  This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

For more detail about the grant's goal and objectives, see the grant narrative. For information about basic qualifications and job duties see the job description.

Deadline to apply is Monday July 28th by 5 pm. To apply, please send cover letter, resume, and the names of 3 references to Dr. Caroly Shumway, [log in to unmask].
