14^th Annual Dragon Boat and Asian Festival - Mortensen Riverfront Plaza -  Hartford – August 16 - 17  (Races start at 8:00am). In 2000, Riverfront Recapture held its 1st Dragon Boat Festival and recruited 30 local teams to compete in a 1-day, community-based race. Since then the Riverfront Dragon Boat & Asian Festival has come a long way, and we are proud to be considered one of the premier dragon boat festivals in the United States. Last year, we hosted a record 93 teams and more than 2,300 athletes from local community organizations and throughout the Northeast. In addition to dragon boat racing, our expanded 2-day festival offers a variety of live Asian entertainment, abundant ethnic food, martial arts demonstrations, and authentic cultural programming.   Admission to the Asian Festival is FREE.
