Take a look at Dell Precision Mobile Workstations.  I  have a M6700 and have been very happy with it.  Primary drive is a 256 GB SSD and I have RAID 1 with 2-750 GB drives (3 total hard drives).  It is a true mobile workstation, but it’s not that mobile and would not really call it a “lap-top” as it is heavy.  Dell just came out with the M6800 so you may be able to get a good price on the M6700.

My only advise is make sure you get a big SSD drive.  It was the largest processing improvement I have seen on a computer.

Good afternoon,

I’m looking to collect suggestions on an investment in a new laptop to primarily run ArcGIS but which would run smoothly using 3D platforms and Python scripting, etc. It doesn’t have to be the newest model, but needs to be able to handle running multiple programs at once and intensive data processing at a decent speed. I am partial to Dell but am open to alternate suggestions… any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Emmanuelle
