Every third Thursday from May to September, thousands of people from far and wide stroll along Main Street, Willimantic amid a background of musical, theatrical, visual, gastronomic, and
olfactory delights. Seven stages simultaneously host a wide variety of music and entertainment while over 100 vendors showcase a variety of handcrafted goods and services. Willimantic's diversity really shines through in the delicious authentic international

The 155th Annual Guildford Fair – Guildford Fairgrounds – 111 Lovers Lane – September 19 – 21 One of the highlights of this
year’s fair is a self-described mountain man, Kostuk who makes fire using flint, char cloth and tinder, and his wife Chris Kostuk is quite the accomplished open fire cook. The Kostuk family are proud members of Pisgah Mountain Primitives, a group of family
and friends who demonstrate early American living. Such as blacksmithing, open fire cooking, make kettlecorn and do candle-making, rope-making and soap-making.
Al Kostuk and company will be at the Fair all 3 days this year. Food, entertainment,
rides, competitive farming events and various other contests will be demonstrated.

Explore the city of Hartford; visit your favorite places, and discover some new ones during day-long festival of games, art, theater, music, walking, biking, tours, innovation and more. All festival activities and admission to all participating institutions,
including the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, the Butler-McCook House, Connecticut’s Old State House and the Bushnell Park Carousel are free. EnvisionFest will also feature two open-air markets: Hartford HodgePodge and State of Makers, as well as a selection

Planet Hip Hop Festival Concert – Part of the “Muslim Women’s Voices” at Wesleyan – Wesleyan University – Beckham Hall - Middletown – September 20 – 9:00pm
Festival will feature afternoon workshops and evening performances by London’s hip hop and spoken word duo Poetic Pilgrimage, the United States debut of Montreal-based Algerian singer-songwriter and
emcee Meryem Saci as a solo artist, and the New England debut of Washington, D.C.-based and Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter, poet, and emcee Maimouna Youssef a.k.a. Mumu Fresh as a solo artist. These international Muslim women use hip hop as a platform
to explore issues of social importance and unity, educate individuals, and inspire change. The evening concert will also feature the Nomadic Wax Collective, a live backing band that will include bass, drums, keys, guitar, and a DJ. This event is part of “Muslim

Civil War Living History Weekend – Roseland Cottage - Woodstock (route 169) - September 20 - 21
Free. Roseland Cottage hosts a Civil War living history weekend. Civilian and military re-enactors create a sense of life
during the middle of the nineteenth century at a time the country was in the deadly grip of the Civil War. Activities include artillery and engineering demonstrations, military uniform and weaponry displays, camp life presentations, period children’s games

22nd Annual Connecticut State Chili Cookoff – East Shore Park – New Haven – September 20 – 11:00am
– 5:00pm
It’s another intense competition with another berth to the World Championship Chili cook off at stake. Cooks put up their best red and green chilies and salsa for a panel of judges. Guests can taste
about 20 to 30 varieties of chili from noon to 3:00pm. This festival also includes live music, kid’s activities, arts and crafts, a beer tent and other food for purchase. Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry.

The 98th Annual “BIG E” EASTERN STATES EXPOSITION – West Springfield, Massachusetts – September 12 – 24
The Big E is the fifth largest fair in North America. Daily (5:00pm) Mardi Gras Parades with eight custom-made floats specially designed and built by the Kern Companies of New
Orleans: the Boeuf Gras (Fatted Calf); Island Party; Caribbean Carnival; Carnival in Rio; Carneval di Venice; Mardi Gras New
Orleans; and our African-themed and Patriotic floats! Marching bands, Big E contingents, animals and more strut their stuff in The Big E Grande Parade. Daily circus, entertainment, activities, food, amusement rides, home show, racing and much more will
take place on 175 acres. The six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont) have permanent replicas of their state capitols located
on site. The food served is outstanding as there are many food vendors present. Bring your walking shoes and get there early!
