5th Annual Doc Dowling Chili Cook-Off 每 Shelton 每 September 6 - 11:00am   Come experience some of the best chili that the northeast has to offer, as cooks from Maine to Pennsylvania compete in the 5th Annual Doc Dowling Chili Cook-Off and attempt to qualify for a seat at the World Championships! This sanctioned ICS event will feature Traditional Red Chili, Chili Verde, and Salsa, so come hungry and enjoy some of the world's finest cooking! What does it mean to compete for the World Championships? In 2009 alone, there were more than 200 sanctioned chili cook-offs, with over one million people tasting! That's a lot of chili! That's over 5,000 people in attendance per cookoff! These "chiliheads" work tirelessly to perfect their trade and travel from state to state to earn the right to be called World Chili Champion.  ※ARGIA§ Twilight Cruise 每 Mystic Seaport 每 September 7 每 5:30pm 每 7:30pm Climb aboard the 81∩ schooner Argia for an early evening cruise down the Mystic River and a sail on Fishers Island Sound. The vessel is an authentic replica of a 19th-century, gaff-rigged schooner, complete with varnished mahogany interiors and brass lamps. Relax on deck or take the helm while you listen to Mystic Seaport chanteyman Don Sineti perform.
