Theme: "What Will Become of Our Children?": emphasizing the effects on Israeli youth of Israel's militarized society; the effects on children living under Israel's military occupation of the West Bank, and the effects on Gazan children,
who have withstood several military assaults and a long-term economic blockade
Speakers: the Rev. David Good, founder of the Tree of Life Educational Fund/Old Lyme, CT
Uri Gopher, civil society activist in Israel; Exec. Dir. of Hagar in the Israeli city of Be'er Sheva, which runs an Arab-Jewish integrated, bilingual school and kindergarten as an element in integrated community
organizing.
Ivan Karakashian, Advocacy Unit Coordinator at Defense for Children International/Palestine, an independent child rights organization that promotes and defends the rights of children living under Israeli military
occupation.
Sahar Vardi, coordinator of the Israel program for the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), focusing on countering the militarization of Israeli society. Conscripted into the Israeli Defense Forces at age
18, she was imprisoned for her refusal to serve.
