Academic Training Workshop on Thursday, 10/16 at 2 pm

This workshop is only for J-1 visa holders in Student Categories (Student Doctoral, Master’s or Bachelor’s, Non-Degree students). This is NOT for F-1 visa students or J-1 visa holders in visiting scholar categories for research/teaching (Short Term Scholar, Research Scholar, Professor, Specialist) or Student Intern categories. Check your DS-2019 form to see which category you are in!

Are you a J-1 student who is interested in doing an internship or working in the U.S. during your academic program after graduation? Are you a J-1 student who will be taking a practicum course? If so, you will need to get Academic Training authorization from ISSS.  ISSS will hold a workshop on Thursday for J-1 students who are interested in learning about or applying for Academic Training (AT). AT is a benefit of the J-1 student visa categories that gives authorization to do internships, work in one’s field of study, or practicum courses at UConn. AT can be done during the academic program or after completing one’s course of study.

Sponsored students: If your visa sponsor is NOT UConn (for example, if your visa is sponsored by IIE or Fulbright) you may still attend the workshop for informational purposes, however you may not be eligible for the Academic Training benefit according to your sponsor’s policies, and ISSS cannot give you official advice on the Academic Training process. It may be better to check directly with your J-1 visa sponsor.

Sign up is required at www.icworkshops.uconn.edu > Available Events > Academic Training Workshop.

Please sign up by 4 pm tomorrow if you plan to attend.
