GIS MANAGER TOWN OF WELLESLEY The Town of Wellesley currently has an opening for a full-time GIS Manager in its Information Technology (IT) Department. Reporting to the IT Director, the GIS Manager oversees the Town's Geographic Information System (GIS) activities. Primary activities and responsibilities include needs analysis, project management, system administration, application development, cartography and analysis, and technical support. The GIS Manager's work requires a detailed knowledge of contemporary GIS applications and standard practices, as well as an understanding of municipal government operations. The incumbent performs a wide variety of tasks that require a high level of professional expertise and strong written, visual and oral communication skills. The GIS Manager directly supervises a full-time GIS Administrator and seasonal/temporary departmental assistants, and acts as the Town's technical and educational resource for all GIS issues. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a GIS-related field (Geography, Engineering, Planning, etc.); three years experience in management of a multi-user GIS; thorough knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS desktop and server-based software; experience in conducting user needs analysis and project management; experience in relational database management and administration; and experience in web mapping application development. Preferred qualifications include experience with ArcGIS Server / ArcGIS Online, the ESRI JavaScript API, Python scripts, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or related municipal IT systems (e.g. work order management, document management, permitting / licensing, land records management, SCADA). The midpoint of the salary range is $77,900.
