In addition to Greg’s email about Goldthwait’s map, GRANIT does have GIS coverages of the stratified drift mapping done by USGS and NHDES. While not full blown surficial geologic maps, these delineate stratified drift aquifers for the entire state. Depending on the level of detail you need, this might suffice. Search GRANIT for AQUIFERS.

Hi Kate-

The only state-wide, surficial geologic mapping available is the Goldthwaits’ 1950 publication http://ngmdb.usgs.gov/Prodesc/proddesc_42595.htm. An electronic (pdf) or paper copy is available through our Public Information Center (603) 271- 8876 or [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Let me know if you have additional questions.

Subject: NH surficial geology GIS data

Hello all,
I am looking for surficial geology GIS data for the entire state of New Hampshire. I did see on GRANIT that mapping is underway at the 1:24,000 scale, and that a portion of the state has been finished (http://www.granit.unh.edu/data/search?dset=surf/surf167)
Does anyone know if there is a dataset that covers the whole state at this point in time, perhaps an older dataset at a smaller scale (e.g., 1:250,000)?
Thanks for any help!
Kate
