Supporting Transgender Students in School

WEBINAR, March 30, 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm  To Register: https://16-06-222.eventbrite.com

Like all students, with the proper supports, transgender students can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. School and district leaders have an important role in ensuring a safe environment that affirms and supports transgender students. For some, implementing new policies — such as allowing transgender students to access restrooms and locker rooms based on gender identity — can be a brand new challenge for which they feel unprepared. However, doing nothing can cause serious harm to a transgender student and expose the school district to legal liability.

Drawing from the presenter’s experience of working with families and schools on this issue, this workshop will review developing best practices, provide participants with the tools needed to effectively and confidently address the needs of transgender students, and answer common questions and concerns around serving a transgender student.
