Hi Thad,

A little late on this reply, but you can also go to this link at ESRI (http://solutions.arcgis.com/utilities/water/help/network-editing/) and download the utility network editing package. In this package, there is an ArcMap project entitled “WaterUtilityNetworkEditing,” and you can copy all of the symbologies over from here. It makes things a lot easier, especially if you have many different layers of your utilities to display. This is specific to water/sewer but I believe there are similar packages for the other utilities as well.

Hello friends and esteemed colleagues,

I once had a list of industry standard colors for used utility line representation, but sadly I cannot find those notes now that I need them… I know that when displaying utility data, such as water lines, gas lines, storm/sanitary lines, there are certain colors that are industry standards… such as blue for something, orange for something else, green for something else, etc… Can anyone remind me of what color is used to represent what utility? I already Googled for the standard 20 minutes, and came up empty with regards to this topic. Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Thad
