Please pick up your forms from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the School of Business room 106.

If you did not participate in a tax workshop and you have not filled out your tax forms please see below for your options.

1) Students and Scholars with NO Income (NO W-2, NO 1042-S):

Students and scholars with no income or employment still need to file the tax form 8843 to report on days of presence in F-1/J-1 status in the prior calendar year. You can download the 8843 online here<https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8843.pdf>. Fill out the top part, Part 1, Part 3 and sign the bottom of page two. Mail the form to the IRS at this address:
Department of the Treasury
Internal Revenue Service Center
Austin, TX 73301-0215

2) Students and Scholars WITH Income and Employment in 2015 (W-2 or 1042-S for taxable scholarship):

Students and scholars with income may receive forms for employment income, taxable scholarship income or miscellaneous income. These may be forms W-2, 1042-S or 1099 and you will need these forms when filing your taxes.

1. Collect your tax forms (W-2 for employment wages, or 1042-S for scholarship/fellowship/tax treaty benefits - if applicable). If you worked in 2015 and did not receive a W-2 form contact your employer. If you worked on-campus and did not receive a W-2 form, you can log into e-Pay and print your W-2. Visit http://payroll.uconn.edu/PY/ePay/ePay.html and follow the instructions for First Time Users.

2. Fill out your federal tax returns (form 1040NR) using Sprintax software. You can buy a Sprintax access code from ISSS for $3 to fill out your federal tax return forms. There is an additional fee you can pay directly to Sprintax if you need to fill out CT state tax forms (CT 1040). Visit http://isss.uconn.edu/tax-preparation-resources/ for more information or to purchase your code. An ISSS staff will email the code to you within 24 hours of purchase and Sprintax staff can help answer your tax questions. You do NOT need to file 1040NR if did not have income in 2015.

Best,

Arthur
