I’ve been exploring ArcReader and acquired a 60 day, trial license of Publisher to make the PMF files.  http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/extensions/publisher/evaluate

ArcReader 10.3 does show maps with the proper symbology and it has basic tools like identify, measure, pan/zoom and markup.  But there’s no table view or query beyond the ultra-basic Find function.  So it really doesn’t have much use in my organization for analytical purposes.

Subject: Anyone using Publisher and ArcReader?

Good Morning,

I was wondering if anyone is using the Publisher extension for ArcGIS Desktop to create maps for use in ArcReader.  What are pros and cons you have noticed?  I am exploring ideas for creating solutions for sharing maps within and outside of my organization.  What are the benefits of using ArcReader as opposed to exporting your map as a .PDF?  From what I’ve read, a .PDF is a static snapshot while the .PMF file changes dynamically if you change the parent map project. Also, if anyone has a .PMF file they could share with me to open in ArcReader I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your time and have a great day! ~Paula

PS- For those of you have my contact information from my previous position at the Onondaga Crime Analysis Center, please update it to my Centro information below.  Thanks!
