RMLD (Reading Municipal Light Department - an electric utility) is actively seeking a highly motivated GIS Specialist for an internship opportunity in the Reading, MA office. RMLD is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive. This role may evolve to full-time employee, entry-level technical new hire. This position is designed to support assimilation into the organization, help with technical development and with creating a foundation of knowledge necessary for future career success.  Working at RMLD means developing skills in the network utility management and asset tracking experience.

 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

 

·        Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information

·        Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping

·        Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes

·        Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components

·        Use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients

·        Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Currently working towards or just completed a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Geography or other related field

 

Basic experience working with ArcGIS and other GIS technologies

 

Excellent communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

ArcGIS Server, T-SQL, and/ or Model Builder experience desirable

 

A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university
