Job Description

Terracon is seeking a motivated problem solver to join our corporate GIS group based in Manchester NH. Candidates should have a background in the physical sciences with skills in geospatial analysis, design, data management, database development, computer programming, and/or web application development. The selected candidate will work in a team environment and play a critical role in the development of project databases, map products, 3D models and web applications for a diverse range of engineering and consulting projects throughout the United States.
Responsibilities
*         Research, compile, and review spatial data from public and proprietary sources
*         Create project GIS maps and exhibits
*         Publish data services and set up project specific web applications
*         Document project workflows, data sources, and data limitations
*         Assist in the creation of advanced GIS products and data models
*         Set up and configure appropriate tools for field data collection based on project needs
*         Perform field data collection, data transfer, and postprocessing
*         Compile technical project data from various sources, including reports, field notes and engineering plans
*         Scan, georeference and digitize hardcopy plans
*         Assist in the development of GIS workflows, databases, and map products
*         Assist in the creation and execution of automated GIS workflows in various development languages
Required Skills
*         Creative thinking and problem solving
*         Excellent written and verbal communication
*         Ability to create interesting and informative maps and other data visualization products
Desired Skills
*         Experience performing spatial analysis with large datasets
*         Fluency in relational databases, including PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Microsoft Access
*         Experience with field data collection using GPS/GNSS receivers
*         Working knowledge of programming in a variety of languages
*         Web development
*         Graphic design
Education and Experience
*         Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences (e.g. civil/environmental engineering, geology, water resources, biology, chemistry, atmospheric science, or related environmental field)
*         One to two years of experience in a relevant field (advanced degrees may substitute for work experience)
