This is going out to the New Haven, Middlesex & 4-H Fair Distribution Lists:

We have our next fair meeting scheduled for this coming Friday, June 3 starting at 7 pm. This meeting will be held at St. Andrews Church in Northford. (Directions at the bottom of the email). The building will be open at 6 pm for officer pairs to meet and catch up. Don’t forget that we will have to have a written plan for placement of activities on the fair grounds and the use each building before we leave Friday night. The blank diagrams were mailed out to the officer list earlier this week. Officers – your comprehensive reports are due – please follow up with them, along with the plans for use of space – both inside buildings and the entire grounds area.

Earlier this year the 4-H Fair Association voted to collect canned goods for the food pantry located at the church in honor of Larry Augur who passed away this winter. Please bring a contribution to the meeting. A check has also been sent to the Northford Food Pantry.

I have attached minutes of the last meeting to this email.

All officers and advisers are expected to attend all the meetings, but we understand that conflicts will arise. If you are unable to attend a meeting (officers & mentors) the following procedure is expected:

1. Inform your partner officer/mentor
2. Make arrangements for the office report to be delivered with your partner
3. Contact Victoria Footit to alert her of your absence. Her email [log in to unmask]

All 4-H members and volunteers are invited to attend this meeting - you do not have to be an elected officer. We are also looking for 4-H members willing to serve as managers for both home arts and livestock. If you have questions on the position, you can contact Coordinator of Home Arts, Katie Yale or Jenna Sullivan, Coordinator of Agriculture, Emily or myself.
Jenna's email is [log in to unmask] and Kate is [log in to unmask]

More important information for the upcoming 4-H Fair

1. Don’t forget that if you are planning on showing your animal (s) at the fair this August, 4-H animal Project Verification Forms were due June 1st. You can still turn them in but the cost per animal will be $10 until June 15 - after that we cannot accept them.
2. We are asking that the building be opened on Friday at 6:00 as several groups are planning on arriving early to discuss items pertaining to their "teams".
3. We are looking for volunteers to help out with the gates, pulls and food booth. There are plenty of people out there who should be able to volunteer to “man the gates” for a couple of hours during the weekend – ask the members and parents of members in your club who might not be as involved with showing.
4. For those youth showing animals – just checked with the Dept. of Ag – State Vet’s office. The 2015 Regulations are still in effect – no changes for 2016. I have attached them to this email as well.
4. For Dairy members and leaders – there has been changes to the PDCA scorecard – please check it out and share with other dairy members. http://purebreddairycattle.com/file_open.php?id=7
