Paralegal – Part-time for CCA Medical-Legal Partnership Project

 

The Center for Children’s Advocacy Medical-Legal Partnership Project (MLPP) has an opening for a part-time paralegal position to assist project attorneys in our New Haven and Hartford offices. The MLPP improves health outcomes for poor children who are patients at partner health institutions in Connecticut (Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Yale-New Haven Hospital, and the Hospital of Central Connecticut).

Job Description

·         Maintain case files in our LegalFiles case management system

·         Conduct screenings and intakes of potential clients

·         Provide information and referrals as appropriate and conduct follow up with clients after services are provided

·         Provide administrative support to MLPP attorneys such as requesting client records, drafting letters, organizing files, preparing for trainings and clinics

·         Analyze data on MLPP statistics and outcomes

·         Work on special projects as needed

 

Qualifications

Demonstrated commitment to providing quality advocacy and support to children in addition to traditional administrative tasks.

·         Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills

·         Strong organizational skills

·         Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

·         Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems

·         Two or more years of related experience

·         Knowledge of child advocacy issues as well as the health care field a plus

·         Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred

 

Salary/Benefits

Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and are within the general range of salaries for public interest organizations.
