I apologize for anyone getting this twice due to Xpost.

 

For those of you who have been following the issues in Silver Stream / Washington Lake due to probable contamination of PFOS in the stream from a discharge at a nearby Air base,  this is a clear case where GIS (Stream flow, etc.) and environment become a part of a GIS pros ability to do some form of predictive modelling: http://www.recordonline.com/article/20160606/news/160609605

 

In addition to potential contaminants, there is now an additional issue with dam volume and release issues. Predictive modeling GIS may or may not have averted some of this, but I post it here as a thought exercise: What kind of prior and post information do we need to make a useful, actionable prediction about stream contamination and its effects?
