We use Tableau a lot. It only does what a GIS person would consider to be basic mapping tasks, but it is lightning fast (it is hard to revert to traditional GIS software after working with Tableau). The ability to link maps and charts, and serve it up on online (for free) gives it some unique capabilities.

Have any of you done work in mapping in Tableau? How does it compare to ArcMap basic? Can you do any actual analysis or just data visualization? Pros/Cons? Worthwhile to learn for a GIS analyst?
