ArcGIS has its own imagery layer that is very similar to Google Earth that might sidestep this entire issue. If you go to File->ArcGIS Online and search "imagery" there are a few different options created by Esri that pop up. They aren't the exact same images as Google Earth uses, but it's the same idea of a mix of sources to try to provide the best resolution and least cloud cover depending on the zoom level.
