Event Program

Introduction

Movie presentation of Sold

Based on the international bestselling novel by Patricia McCormick, and inspired by true accounts, SOLD tells the story of 13 year-old Lakshmi, who is trafficked from her peaceful, rural village in Nepal to work in a brothel called Happiness House in Kolkata, India. Through one extraordinary girl’s story, SOLD gives voice to the millions of children around the world who disappear every year. Globally, the average age of a trafficked girl is thirteen, the same age as Lakshmi in the film. SOLD is a call to action, and a testament to the power and resilience of the human spirit.more
