Hi all

I have a quick question and was hoping one of you may  know the answer.

We have a significantly complex special needs infant in our practice who lives in a family with multiple children.  (7 people in family total).  He (as well as the family) desperately needs private duty nursing but it is an excluded benefit on the private insurance for both parents’ insurance.  His care is quite overwhelming and feel that they are not giving the best care to all the other children including his twin brother.

Mom wondered if it is possible to make the maternal grandmother the guardian and since she is over 65, the child could receive Medicaid.  (yes, he is on the list for Katie Beckett but that will take a while.

Subject: CCA's Adolescent Healthcare Legal Rights of Teens 5th Edition is Here!

Hi to all:

The Center for Children’s Advocacy is excited to announce that the fifth edition of our Adolescent Health Care:  Legal Rights of Teens© book is now available.  The newest edition contains updates on all relevant areas of the law regarding adolescent healthcare (reproductive rights, access to mental health and substance abuse treatment), as well as the legal issues surrounding the HPV vaccination, the right to refuse vaccinations, expedited partner therapy treatment for STI’s, and emergency contraception.  In addition, the new edition adds new and updated sections on bullying in schools, the “mature minor doctrine” and domestic minor sex trafficking.

I have attached a preview of the fifth edition to this e-mail.  Orders may be placed by going to our website here, or by calling the Center at (860) 570-5327.  Any questions or comments are welcome – please forward to my attention at [log in to unmask]

Best,

Jay
