Some of the new additions to nowCOAST include the following:
1) A new map service to provide access to the NWS/National Hurricane Center's Potential Storm Surge Flooding Map via web mapping services. The maps will also be displayed on the nowCOAST map viewer under the Layer Menu item 'Storm Track, Intensity & Inundation Forecasts'. Additional information about this new map service can be found at https://nowcoast.noaa.gov/arcgis/rest/services/nowcoast/wwa_meteocean_tropicalcyclones_inundation/MapServer
2) Updated nowCOAST help pages to provide detailed information about this new map service
3) XML metadata records for each nowCOAST map service. The metadata records are written to be compliant with the ISO 19115-2 standard. The records can be accessed individually or harvested by a data catalog service from the Web Accessible Folder (WAF) at https://nowcoast.noaa.gov/metadata,
Our sincere thanks to NCEP/NCO personnel for implementing the new version of nowCOAST on the NOAA IDP infrastructure today, earlier than originally planned. The effort to make the NHC Potential Storm Surge Flooding Map available via nowCOAST map services and map viewer was a collaborative effort between NOS/Coast Survey Development Lab, NWS/National Hurricane Center, NWS/Office of Dissemination/Integrated Dissemination Program and NWS/NCEP Central Operations.
