Associate's Degree or similar Certificate from an accredited college or university in marine resource management, biology, geology, geography, environmental studies, electrical or mechanical engineering, or related scientific fields. Work includes maintaining research vessel scientific computer system; assist with installation and operation of software and hardware; and maintain vessel IT infrastructure. Geographic Information System (GIS) work efforts include analyzing and visualizing ship traffic and research data; and maintaining databases. Desired skills include analysis using GIS technology; supporting ship board research activities; and database management. Understanding of Automatic Identification System (AIS) technology, data analysis, and infrastructure is desired. Proficient in MS Office and database management.
