Dear students and scholars,

If you are following the news, you may be aware that the U.S. President signed an executive order today that may carry implications for international students and scholars. While the final language of the signed executive order has not yet been released, the draft of the order included a 30 day restriction on issuing visas and allowing entry for foreign nationals from seven countries- Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Sudan and Yemen. If you are a citizen of any of these countries, we advise that you do not make plans to take short trips outside the United States in the near future, at least until we can see the language in the final executive order and await further developments. This includes short trips to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean or other bordering territories.  Also, if you or your dependents are from one of the affected countries and you are currently outside the United States, please contact ISSS so that we are aware of your situation.

ISSS will be in contact with impacted students once the final language of the executive order is made known. Please know that the University values all international students and scholars as members of the UConn community, and that we will do our best to update you with any information as it is known.

Please don't hesitate to contact ISSS if you have questions or concerns. We are available during walk-in advising hours weekday, 1:00 - 3:30 pm, by appointment (see staff to find the designated advisor for your program: http://isss.uconn.edu/about/staff-directory/) or by email. On this eve of Chinese New Year, we wish you a peaceful and happy year ahead.
