Teens and the Dangers of Sexting
Like other online content, these texts and images do not go away.
There are legal consequences, and youth are vulnerable.
There are emotional, educational and long-term career consequences.
There is enormous trauma for adolescents whose privacy is violated.
Developmental trauma complicates psychological, social and academic/career difficulties.
The issues are complex, the images are permanent, and the consequences are real.
In legal cases, possible consequences include youth being charged with production or distribution of child pornography.
