Good morning,

On Friday March 31st the CT GIS User to User Network voted to change the by-laws as well as vote in new Steering Committee members. I'd like to congratulate and welcome the New Steering Committee members<http://ctgis.uconn.edu/about/steering.htm>!

The by-law changes include a new name for our organization: CT GIS Network. The New by-laws<http://ctgis.uconn.edu/about/bylaws.htm> are posted on the CT GIS Network site for your review.

The new Steering Committee had their first meeting of the year last Friday to vote in the new Executive Committee. I'm happy to report our new Executive Committee is Liz Congo - Secretary, Cary Chadwick -Vice President, and Steven Birney - President.

Although our organization name has changed our purpose has not:

a) To provide opportunities, through a variety of venues including workshops, meetings and the Internet, for members to share ideas, to learn about GIS activities, to explore collaborative opportunities and to discover geospatial information resources;

b) To promote the free exchange of geospatial knowledge and information among members and to promote geospatial knowledge with the general public;

c) To encourage the growth of the field of geospatial technology in the State of Connecticut;

d) To serve as a geospatial technology resource;

e) To communicate the needs and issues affecting Connecticut GIS users to the state agencies and elected officials responsible for developing GIS policy and acquiring geospatial data.

I want to thank you for your participation in the CT GIS Network and I look forward to working with you to continue our mission over the next year. The Steering Committee is already planning our next network meeting for June. Meeting date and location to be posted soon!

Steven Birney
President
CT GIS Network
