ESRI responded quickly and I’m supposed to have a phone call with them later this week.  I can email with the questions I have, but I fear it may not make sense unless you are familiar with the data model as well as interior space mapping.  Suffice to say, the data model is very good for a campus that is flat with easy floor designations, but challenging for a campus that is topographically challenge, in others words on the north side of a building you can walk into the building on the 3rd floor, but on the south side you can walk in on the Ground floor, because it’s built into a hill, how do you do routing if everything is set to a flat plain so to speak.  Other challenges include what do you use for a ceiling height as many rooms have varying ceiling heights, gathering floor elevation data etc.  I’ll try and post back after I’ve talked with ESRI.  Ultimately going to BIM aka Revit would be best, but we just don’t have the resources at the moment to do this for 250+ buildings and 650+ CAD Drawings.

Hi All,

I am very interested in this as well for all our school buildings. Would you please get me involved if you were able to get this conversation started.

Thank you,

Eman

I’d love to get more involved with this as well. Huge potential for universities!

Are there any ESRI folks on this list serve, or maybe others (Pen Bay?) that could answer questions about the ArcGIS Indoors data models and samples?  The samples and data models are pretty simple and don’t really represent a real university campus and so I want to asked some questions on how to deal with the various complex scenarios we have on campus.
