To the University Community,

Your help was critical last semester in reversing state budget cuts to UConn of $300 million this biennium.  Due to your strong advocacy, UConn cuts were scaled back to $143 million for FY18 and FY19.  We need your help once again to protect UConn’s budget from detrimental cuts as the process to revise the FY19 budget begins.  Given last year’s cut of $143 million, as well as more than $164 million in cuts since 2010, the University’s budget must be protected so that UConn can continue to provide a quality education.  (Note: numbers in this paragraph include UConn and UConn Health)

Please show your support for the University by attending the Appropriations Committee Informational Hearing regarding UConn’s budget on Thursday, February 15th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. in Room 2C of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.  Please plan on arriving no later than 4:30 p.m. in order to get through security and into the hearing room.

Please wear your UConn gear to help support students and faculty testifying in opposition to the cuts and support the University and its students. Students from other public colleges and universities will be there so we need UConn students to stand out by wearing their best Husky blue and white apparel.

If you can attend, please follow this link to sign up RSVP for Appropriations Hearing- February 15th.  Buses provided by USG will depart Storrs at3:30 p.m, and leave,  and return to Storrs by 8:45 p.m.  Seating on the bus is limited and on a first come/first serve basis. The buses will be departing from and returning to the top of Fairfield Way across from the Husky Dog statue.

Hope to see you all there!

Sincerely,

Irma Valverde
