Hello all,

Long time listener, first time poster!

Apple Maps also has a feature in the map where you can report issues in the map. Press and hold a spot on the map to drop a pin, and then if you scroll to the bottom, you can “Report an Issue.”

What is/are the name(s) of the road that has the issue in Randolph? Is Michelle able to send the links to the town maps that illustrate the issue?

Best,
Emma Gause

I used to work at Navteq (now HERE) and there was always a way for users to submit map edits. On the field team we would look at these once a quarter (to coincide with releases) and edit the database based on our research. Not sure if the process is still the same but it is possible.

Now that the users are more online and less in-car navigation, it looks like they have a way to submit these online: https://mapcreator.here.com/

I've also BCC'ed a friend who is still at HERE in the Northeast to bring this to his attention.

I'm sure there's the same for TomTom and I know that you can submit changes in GoogleMaps as well (just had one processed a few days ago after a few months delay.)

Following up: Paul Nutting at MassGIS said his staff would reach out to Michelle and make sure the correct info is in the NextGen911 database. From there, it should be picked up by HERE and the commercial mapping platforms. So for people in similar situations, the best thing to do is contact MassGIS (or your state’s  NextGen911 authority) and start there.

Thanks, everyone!

Subject: Getting data to major mapping platforms (from MassPlanners listserv)

Hello, all.

My wife forwarded me this message to see if I had any thoughts. I’ve had trouble with this in the past working for local governments, but maybe someone here has had better luck and can help Michelle out.

Reaching out to the community after failing in my many attempts to resolve an issue. Perhaps someone has a creative or tested solution?

There is a subdivision (in development) where the road spans two communities.  The name of the roadway is different in each community however all of the online mapping systems (Google, Yahoo, Bing, MapQuest, etc.) reflect only one street name.  In the world of online maps, digital directions, etc., it is IMPOSSIBLE to find the Randolph street through any search making life difficult for things like UPS, FedEx, etc.  I have "reported' the issue to all of the online map providers at least half-dozen times over the course of 3-6 months with zero effect following the only process I can find available:  on-line reporting.  I have included maps from the Town, my phone number, my email address and still, radio silence.

Anyone else run into a similar issue? Were you able to resolve it? If so, how?

Sincerely,

Michelle Tyler
