Hi,
I wonder if someone can help me figure out what happened to my map?

I have been creating a set of map layers relating to an archaeology project
that I am in the final stages of writing up -- e.g. I'm doing the last bits
of edits, including formatting and finalizing some of the maps that I will
export to include as illustrations in the book.

Suddenly, there are green symbols showing up on the map, that I did not put
there! Some of them are in the same location as point features i want
showing on the map, but the symbols for those features are underlying the
green symbol. Some of them, when I click to identify, return a location,
but no data,

I have turned off all the layers except the one I want showing.

The only other thing that happened is that yesterday appeared a map file
that said it
was _"808b2964960a787061c7c92379303246_Short-SavingShapefilesandUploading"
I did not download that, and don't know where it came from. But I deleted
it, and still, green dots...

Does this make sense to anyone? Any help would be very gratefully welcome!
