Dear Students and Scholars,

This summer, ISSS implemented a new software to manage files and applications for international students and scholars at UConn. Students and scholars now have access to this system by visiting isssportal.uconn.edu .

UConn Students: If you are a UConn student, you will select “Login” in the upper right hand corner, and log in using your Net ID and password.

UConn Visiting Scholars (Research, Teaching): If you are a visiting scholar, you will select “Non-UConn Login”, and login in using your email address and a password that you have created. If you are a visiting scholar and you have not yet created an ISSS Portal account login, you may click on the “Forgot your password?” link. An email with a link to create your password will be sent to you. These password resets are manually created during ISSS business hours, so it may take several days to receive the password reset link in your email.

Your User Home Page in the ISSS Portal

In the portal, you will be able to upload a photo, view and edit your profile information, and view applications that you have submitted to ISSS. If you made past applications to ISSS, you can see records of those applications in the left hand side of your User Home Page, under “Records”. Future applications that you submit to ISSS will also be listed under “Records”. You can also view email communications that were sent to you by ISSS through the Portal. We encourage you to log in and explore your User Home Page.

Submitting Application Records through the ISSS Portal

Some records are currently submitted through the ISSS portal. Currently the ISSS Student Check In, the OPT Employment Update and STEM OPT Validation record, and the Departure Notice are submitted through the ISSS Portal. The button linking to these applications is on the ISSS website, and brings you to the portal to create your application (record). Please note that each time you click on the button from the ISSS website and select a record term, this will create a new record. To work on an existing record, you should log in directly to isssportal.uconn.edu, navigate to your records listing, and click on the record to continue working on it.  Some students may have accidentally created multiple records, while trying to submit one application. If you have done this, you can navigate to your User Home Page, and “Withdraw” the duplicate applications that you created by accident.

Incomplete Application Reminder Emails

Students may have been receiving emails from the ISSS Portal asking you to complete your application records that were missing materials. Many of these emails referred to past applications that you submitted to ISSS which have already been processed. Please disregard these emails. Starting today, ISSS has turned these automatic reminder notifications off. We hope that you will no longer receive the automatic reminders to complete applications.

Throughout the upcoming year, more application forms will be submitted through the ISSS Portal. The ISSS website, isss.uconn.edu will direct you to apply through the Portal, when your application form requires it. Please continue to follow the application instructions listed on the ISSS website to ensure that you are submitting your application correctly.

Thank you and please let us know if you have any questions.
