GIS Technician - (18002245)

Golder is seeking a motivated individual to join the Westborough, Massachusetts and/or Manchester, New Hampshire team as an entry level GIS Technician supporting multiple internal clients. The successful candidate must have experience and be comfortable working in GIS, have a client focus and consulting approach, as well as excellent interpersonal skills as they will be working with clients and staff at all levels within our international, employee-owned firm.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  *   Managing the mapping components of various projects using GIS software including ArcGIS;
  *   Assisting in preparing maps, drawings, figures, sketches, charts and presentation posters for use in proposals and design reports;
  *   Participating in 2D and 3D GIS data analysis, file management, database management, spatial data capture, structuring and integration into GIS data themes;
  *   Responsible for GIS data conversion between multiple file formats;
  *   Be responsible for product quality control with adherence to company standards;
  *   Report to and review project work with Senior GIS personnel;
  *   Communicating and operating in a professional and courteous manner with team members, Project Managers, and clients.
  *   Working collaboratively with staff from other Golder offices, as required, to meet project and client needs;
  *   Some travel to other Golder offices may be required;
  *   Performing other administrative and technical project duties as required;
  *   Demonstrating a "Safety-First" focus and acting as a role model to other staff; and,
  *   Maintaining a high standard of behavior to uphold Golder's reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values.
The successful candidate may possess the following preferred skills and qualifications:

  *   Successful completion of the following: A degree or equivalent experience in spatial, environmental, or geosciences;
  *   Minimum 3 years ArcGIS use and analyses experience;
  *   Experienced knowledge of the following software is essential: ESRI ArcMap, MS Excel/Access/Word;
  *   Experience using an environmental management system (e.g. EQuIS)
  *   Working knowledge of GPS units or other field data capture tools;
  *   Experience using 3D modelling packages, AutoCAD, FME, MS SQL Server, MS Access, HTML, and/or Adobe Creative Suite would be an asset;
  *   Strong oral and written communication skills;
  *   Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented;
  *   Strong people skills and an ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  *   Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines;
  *   Willingness to learn several in-house or specialty software programs;
  *   Possess a valid Driver's License.
